GOOD FRIDAY ANNOUNCEMENT
We are living in disturbing times. Although we are about to move from Holy Week into Easter, it will be different from any Easter that we or our ancestors have experienced. I imagine that these ancient churches have never been closed before at this Festival time. However, despite these unprecedented days, God remains faithful. As the hymn says: 'Jesus Christ is risen today! Alleluia!' Our living Lord promised that he will walk with us through green pastures and also through dark valleys. He said: 'I will never leave you.' We live in changing times but we do not walk this path alone.
It has been a difficult time for these churches. Revd David Lake has been on sick leave for some time. The Bishop is announcing today, Good Friday, that David will be retiring on 30th April. He and Patricia will, at some stage after the lock-down, move away from Crick. Changing times. I will soon be in touch with the churchwardens to talk about the possible next steps. Please pray about the future of these three churches. Meanwhile, please also pray for David and Patricia as they turn the page into a new chapter.
Jesus said: I will never leave you. Thank him this Easter time for his life-giving presence: yesterday, today and forever.
